The latest health inspections in Laredo reveal which restaurants had violations and which ones had perfect scores. While most restaurants in the inspections passed with “A” grades, many had two or more violations. Some restaurants received a “B” grade, scoring between 80-89 points out of a possible 100. 

Here are the scores and notes for each restaurant inspected between the middle of April and the beginning of May. This list does not include stores that have a limited food preparation service or sell pre-packaged foods only.

LISD Christen Middle School 2001 Santa Maria Ave. Score: 99/100 Inspector’s notes: Observed the back door of the cafeteria open. It should be closed at all times to prevent pests from coming in.

Observed cook handling tortillas with bare hands instead of proper utensils. The establishment does not have an employee on duty that is the designated "person in charge." Food in the refrigerator was not labeled correctly. The handwashing sink was obscured by a trash can, while the other station was not equipped with paper towels. Ice scoop was not stored in a proper container and it was left on top of the ice machine which may cause contamination of the ice. The light bulb under the hood in the food prep area needs to be changed.

One employee needs the food handler certificate. Drinking inside the preparation area. Observed full container of refuse in the kitchen area without a lid.

Observed missing thermometers in refrigerators; The handwashing sink is observed to be blocked by kitchen utensils and was out of paper towels. Observed many flies in the establishment (upfront and in the food prep area). Observed knives being stored in a gap in-between the back of the sink and the wall. Cardboard being used as anti-slip mats, but also had an accumulation of dirt.
