The following York County restaurants were found to have violated Pennsylvania’s health and safety regulations during inspections between Jan. 10-16.

Inspections are overseen by the Department of Agriculture. The department notes that in many cases violations are corrected by the restaurant before inspectors leave.

--Observed flooring (rear crevices) and PVC piping underneath three compartment sink has an accumulation of soot, dirt, trash and old food debris at the time of inspection.

--Observed to area of hood ventilation on cooks line has an accumulation of grease build-up and in need of cleaning.

--Observed top areas of fryers (cooking equipment), within kitchen area, has a large accumulation of encrusted grease and soil accumulation at the time of inspection.

--Observed creamer cold well with an accumulation of dust, dirt, food residue, debris on non-food contact surfaces.

--Observed bottom freezer trays underneath fryers having an accumulation of old-food residue and dirt debris and in need of cleaning.

--Observed fan grates and areas around having a large accumulation of static dust debris and in need of cleaning.

--Observed flooring throughout the entire rear area and walk-in cooler is heavily roughened/peeling and is not a smooth, easily cleanable surface. Floor needs to be repaired at this time.

--Observed standing liquid inside cupboard under fountain soda machine.

--Employee beverage container observed on the same shelf with and over foods in the storage area.

--Fountain soda machine dispensing nozzles and food contact portion of milkshake machine, were observed to have food residue and were not clean to sight and touch.

--Sandwich cutting board, a food contact surface, was observed to have food residue, appeared stained, has gouges and was not clean to sight and touch.

--Severely dented, swollen, distressed canned items observed in storage room are and intended for use or sale in the food facility.

--Sponges observed in the pre-wash area being used to clean food contact surfaces.

JACQUELYN’S BAKESHOP & CAFE

--Observed bio-film-like residue on nonfood contact surface of ice machine.

--Strip of trim near kitchen entrance has not been installed. Corrected. Several ceiling tiles are not in place.

--Observed flooring of walk-in freezer soiled with trash debris and in need of cleaning.

STAUBS LANDING RESTAURANT & PUB

--Observed ceiling tiles throughout kitchen with water damage.

--Observed deeply scored and discolored cutting boards not resurfaced or discarded as required.

--Walls observed to be rusted in walk-in refrigerator.

--Two-drawer fridge doors not closing properly.

--Shellstock located in the walk-in refrigerator did not have identification tags attached to the container.

--Shellstock tags are not maintained for 90 days from the date the container is emptied.

--Shelf above stove in back prep area observed with an accumulation of residue and dust and is in need of cleaning.

--Observed clean food equipment, stored wet in a manner that does not allow for draining and/or air drying (wet nesting).

--Soda nozzles, food contact surfaces, were observed to have food residue and were not clean to sight and touch. Corrected.

--Observed container of soap taken from bulk supplies, not marked with the common name of the chemical. Corrected.

--Food utensils stored in a container of sanitizer.

--Shelving and floor in walk-in refrigerator observed to be rusted and is no longer smooth and easily cleanable.

--Observed bottom shelving of oven unit, located in rear area, with large accumulation of black, encrusted soot and old-food residue and in need of cleaning.

--Observed fryer top, sides and wheels of unit (cooking equipment), located in the rear area, has a large accumulation of encrusted grease and soil accumulation at the time of inspection.

--Observed oven drip/debris pan, non-food contact surfaces not cleaned at a frequency to preclude large accumulation of food, dirt and soil.

--Observed flooring within rear and walk-in cooler area of the food facility is heavily soiled with trash, dirt and old food debris and in need of cleaning.

--Observed top area of front area grill, soiled with a black, encrusted substance around the top underside of unit and in need of cleaning at this time.

--Food employees observed on cooks line and prep area, not wearing proper hair restraints, such as nets, hats, or beard covers.

--Food facility inspection indicates evidence of rodents activity (observed 50-100 droppings) in rear stock areas, but facility does have a pest control program.

--Observed rear stock area freezer units bottom shelving not cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of dirt and soil at the time of inspection.

--Soda nozzles, food contact surfaces, were observed to have food residue and were not clean to sight and touch. Corrected.

--Six pack of bottled beverages observed in the hand-wash sink, indicating uses other than hand-washing.

--Manual ware-washing equipment observed with build up of filth and not cleaned before use, and frequently throughout the day.

--Three basin sink is being used to store canned and bottled beverages.

--Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration.

--Observed shelving equipment, in retail cooler doors area, with an accumulation of dust, dirt, food residue, debris on non-food contact surfaces.

--Food facility is using flexible piping to repair the plumbing system, which is not an approved material.

--Observed accumulation of frozen condensate on ceiling of the walk-in freezer.

2080 York Crossing Drive, Ste L York

--Cove base tiles in hallway between beer cooler and doorway to restaurant are cracked.

--Lights are not shielded or shatterproof over the walk-in cooler area.

--Ceiling vent covers and light shields have an accumulation of static dust.

--Observed a leak under the dishwasher.

--Food employees observed in cooks line area, not wearing proper hair restraints, such as beard covers.

--Observed bowl being used as dispensing utensil in bulk flour.

--Observed cooking utensils stored where exposed to possible contamination from employee clothing and equipment between uses.

--Underside of mixer motor house a food contact surface was observed to have food residue and was not clean to sight and touch. In use cutting board was deeply scored not allowing for proper cleaning/sanitizing as needed.

--Outside waste handling storage area was extremely dirty and dirty.

--Floor under cooking/cold holding/storage units and preparation equipment is extremely dirty, dusty, and in need of cleaning.

--Observed interior of oven in the cooks line area, with encrusted grease and soil accumulation. Scales and food portioning equipment observed with heavy accumulation of old food and dirt.

--Plumbing system not maintained in good repair - observed dish area hand sink leaking at the waste water pipe.

--Ceiling and walls observed with an accumulation of static dust and are in need of cleaning.

--Chest freezer observed to be dirty and is in need of cleaning.
