What you need to know about graduation ceremonies in northern Brazoria

A Shadow Creek High School graduating senior spots a familiar face in the crowd during that school’s graduation ceremonies in 2021. Pearland and Alvin ISDs are preparing for this year’s ceremonies.

Seniors in the Pearland and Alvin school districts are counting the days until graduation ceremonies this month usher in the next phase of their lives.

In Pearland ISD, graduation ceremonies for Pearland and Dawson high schools and for Turner College & Career High School will be Friday, May 27 at NRG Stadium in Houston.

Ceremonies that day will be at 9 a.m. for Pearland High, noon for Dawson and 3 p.m. for Turner.

The event will have open seating with no limit on guests. Parking is $20 cash or card.

In Alvin ISD, commencement ceremonies for Manvel High School is set for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 25 at the district’s Freedom Field at Alvin ISD Heritage Complex, 10855, Iowa Colony Blvd., Iowa Colony.

Alvin High School’s ceremony will be Thursday, May 26 at the same time and place. Shadow Creek High School’s event will be Friday, May 27, also at the same time and place.

The graduation ceremony for RISE Academy will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 27 at the Alvin High School Performing Arts Center.

Each Alvin ISD school’s ceremony will be streamed live at www.alvinisd.net.

Stadium gates will open at 6 p.m. before each ceremony. Anyone over age 3 must have an armband to enter. Students will receive wristbands from their campus.

The district has a “clear bag policy” for graduations in which only the following bags will be allowed:

: Clear, plastic, vinyl or PVC bags

: Clear, plastic, one-gallon, re-sealable, Ziploc-style bags

: Clutch bags approximately the size of a hand ( 4 ½-by- 6 ½ inches ), and

Visitors who bring bags that do not meet the criteria outlined, will not be permitted entrance into the venue.
